Questions people ask before their first booking
Do you need water and electricity from my building?
No. The van carries its own water tank, its own water heater and its own power. We don't plug into anything and we don't use your tap. It's the reason we can work in older buildings and on streets with no driveway.
Where do you park?
Anywhere on the street within about [N] metres of your door is fine. If parking on your street is difficult, tell us when you book and we'll either come at a quieter hour or sort a spot out with you beforehand.
How long does an appointment take?
Anywhere from 30 minutes to two and a half hours. It depends on your pet's size, breed, coat condition and which service you've booked — a nail trim is quick, a full groom on a matted double-coated dog is not. You'll get a time window when you book.
Do I need to be at home?
Someone needs to hand the pet over and take them back. You don't have to stay in the van — most owners go back upstairs and we message when we're done. You're welcome to watch if your pet is calmer with you there.
How much does it cost?
A full groom starts at [PRICE] for a small dog and [PRICE] for a cat. Size, coat and matting change it. Full price list here.
Do you groom cats?
Yes. One cat at a time, and the van is cleaned down between a dog and a cat. More on cat grooming.
My dog has never been groomed and gets anxious. Can you still do it?
Yes, and mobile is usually the easier option for exactly that dog — there's no car journey, no strange building and no other animals in the room. We go slowly, we do less on a first visit if we need to, and we stop if your dog has had enough. You only pay for what we completed.
Do you sedate pets?
Never. If a pet genuinely can't be groomed safely awake, that's a conversation for your vet, not for us.
My dog's coat is badly matted. What happens?
We look at the coat with you before we start. If the mats are tight to the skin, brushing them out isn't possible and isn't kind — the answer is a short clip to remove them, then a plan to grow the coat back properly. We tell you what we're going to do and what it will cost before any clippers come out.
How often should my dog be groomed?
Long-coated breeds like Maltese, Shih Tzus and Poodles need a full groom every [N] to [N] weeks, with brushing at home in between. Short-coated dogs are usually fine every [N] to [N] weeks, more often in shedding season.
